Jason Explains our Office Desk Range

Hide video transcript Show video transcript

When it comes to desks, variety is the name of the game.  We really try to cover both look and size. How do we do that? Similar to a lot of the other products in the JasonL range, we look at the concept of how? How can we create this range in a modular format that allows us to do the maximum amount of variations and the maximum amount of finishes.

So right now we're looking at a corner desk. This desk looks about 1800 x1550, we do it in a 1600. We do it in a 1400. We do it in a 1200. And then depending on whether this is for a home office or your, exec office, we do a 700 deep, which is more suitable to that home environment or an 800 deep if you're looking to set up your two monitors and have a little bit more space for those people that might be coming and having a sit down with you every 5, 10, 15 minutes, depending on your role in the business.

As you can see, this particular option is the corner desk that can be done on the left and right-hand sides. We could put a modesty panel on the front. So for men or women that are looking for a little bit more privacy.

Then we have other ranges that would suit you better such as our, Just Right height-adjustable option, right through to our Premium Just Height adjustable option called Flexi Premium, which again can be done in a single or a corner setting, all in stock. Just let us know, or have a look at the website.

Office Desks? Done!

Office desks are a part of our day to day life. Holding up our PC screen, our paperwork and even a regular morning coffee whilst on the job! They’re a constant part of our everyday routine, even when out of the office - our sturdy desks are there to safe keep all our paperwork, folders and files carefully until we get back.

A good office desk is a very necessary component to have. We spend the majority of our workday sitting, brainstorming and even sometimes eating at our desks. Studies have shown that an office desk creates a working environment and automatically encourages people to get their thinking caps on as soon as they’re seated at a desk!

Before you begin your quest to look for a desk, figure out what you’ll be using it for. Will you need a big surface area to work with? Or do you work mainly on a laptop or pc that doesn't require as much space?

After doing some research you’ll find that office desks differ in price vastly. A key pointer would be not to go for the cheapest desk types in the market as these would most probably not be fit to use on a daily basis. You should rather consider spending a little more on a desk that would serve you best long term so that you’ll avoid making another purchase prematurely.

This being said, you won't have to purchase a high-end model either. You could just look for a solid wood piece that will be affordable and be available in different styles. If you do enough research you’ll find that there are many premium quality desks that won’t have you breaking the bank. One thing to consider would be the quality of your chosen desk’s finish that will fall into your budget.

Features and Design

Quality Construction

A well-designed, high-quality office desk is designed carefully, made to be strong, and can resist daily use. No amount of coffee spills, books, bulky computers, or other office supplies should cause the quality of your desk to deteriorate. You’ll have to ensure that your chosen desk is one that’s designed to last. If you’re going for a more modern glass desk, ensure that it has metal legs that will reinforce the desk and prolong its life. Also, note that good money on a good desk now means never having to replace it.

Comfort

You will spend several hours a day seated at your desk, so ergonomics are essential. Find an office desk that’s designed for comfort and ease. While L-shaped desks and U-shaped office suites were once considered the standard for beautiful office design, all that twisting and turning to access shallow desktops and bulky cabinets can actually take a toll on your back and hips. But a desk with a broad, rectangular shape and plenty of foot room are more ideal.

Strong Surface

It wouldn't be a great idea to go for particle board furniture, the standard at most big-box chains. They’re designed to fool you with cheap, flimsy construction of ground-up, low-quality wood parts and a faux finish that only somewhat resembles real wood. Rather shop for furniture made of genuine hardwood, reinforced glass and sturdy metal legs made of real iron.

Types of Office Desks

Height Adjustable Desks

If your line of work doesn’t require a lot of time sitting at a computer, or you just prefer to stand to do your work, a standing desk can be a great choice for your home office. For people who find it hard to sit in a chair for long periods of time or maybe you need more than one computer set up and need to be able to move from station-to-station quickly and freely - maybe a height-adjustable desk would be a great investment. They're simple in look and design, and they can change the way you work and move about your home office.

L-shaped Desk

These are great for when you need to have plenty of room to work without everything being cluttered on one surface. An L-shaped desk can create a good focal point for an office and can be more functional for odd-shaped offices. You’ll find that these desks will give you ample legroom to move freely between the two connected desktop surfaces, for better task efficiency.
