Jason Explains our Decor, Pots & Plants Range

Different options for, pots, plants, and decor in an office are around how to bring together functionality with a bit of softness. What we often look at is, you know, putting some greenery into an area, but also making the greenery functional.

So for example, what we have here is a tambour door storage unit with planter boxes that we've then gone and provided a little bit of greenery. So it gives that soft feeling and also doubles up as a bit of privacy. So when people are walking through the corridor, the people sitting at the end of the workstations don't feel like people are walking and talking on top of them.

Here's another great example of how we're using greenery and a storage option to divide space without making it feel boxy. And so it has that open feel so that when your team is sitting on the other side of the office, they can still see somebody walking in, but they get the dividing of space.

Some other things that we like to do are put some floral decor, and some pots around the reception area, potentially in a meeting or a boardroom, just to give that softer feel. That warmth that people have come to expect in an office.

Surveys show that people are definitely looking for a stimulating and motivating atmosphere at work. But they also want a place where they can exchange with colleagues or partners and feel confident.

Your decor must match the brand identity of your business. Workplace decor should keep with the company’s history, values and visual identity. Thus, the choice of colors, art, materials and furniture should be significant in order to create consistency.

You are your business, and your business is you. One reflects the other. The image you present radiates through your workspace. Your clients will associate a cluttered office with a cluttered mind. Even if you show a polished image, a shabby or unprofessional looking workplace will remain in the back of their minds.

An Exeter University study found that bringing plants into the office can increase productivity. Apparently workers were “15 percent more productive” when there were plants in the office. Having just one plant per square meter improved memory and employee performance on basic tests.

Meanwhile, a 2010 study by the University of Technology in Sydney found spectacular results when plants were introduced into an office setting, with a 37 percent less reported tension and anxiety; a 58 percent decrease in depression or dejection; a 44 percent drop in anger and hostility; and 38 percent less fatigue.
