BUYING GUIDE
How to choose
office furniture.
Four questions settle most of it. If you'd rather have it done for you, a workspace specialist will spec the lot and send a free quote.

How many desks and chairs do you actually need?
Count people, not seats. Hybrid teams rarely need one desk per head — a 1:0.7 desk-to-staff ratio with a few bookable hot desks covers most weeks, plus a quiet room for calls. Get the ratio right and you spend the saving on better chairs.
2
Fixed desk or sit-stand?
Sit-stand (height-adjustable) desks support healthier workdays and are increasingly the default for new fitouts. Fixed desks cost less up front and suit high-density or budget-led setups. Many offices mix both.
3
What actually makes a chair ergonomic?
Four things: seat-height and seat-depth adjustment, adjustable lumbar support, and armrests that come in far enough to support your forearms at the desk. Everything past that is comfort and finish. Sit in three before you commit to thirty.
4
Do you need a full fitout, or just furniture?
If you are moving, reconfiguring or growing quickly, a plan saves money. If you are replacing tired chairs or adding a few desks to a layout that already works, buy the furniture and skip the project. We will tell you which one you are.

COMMERCIAL FURNITURE TERMS
Office furniture
terms, explained.
01
What is a sit-stand desk?
A height-adjustable desk that moves between seated and standing height, usually electrically. Commercial frames lift 70–125cm and are rated for daily use.
02
What is a workstation?
A desk system designed for multiple people, usually with shared structure, screens and cable management. Counted in seats rather than desks.
03
What is commercial-grade?
Furniture built and tested for daily use in a workplace — stronger materials, higher weight ratings and longer warranties than home furniture.
04
What makes a chair ergonomic?
Adjustability that supports posture — seat height and depth, lumbar support, and arms that come in close enough to hold your forearms.
